Although I consider myself left of Hillary Clinton, I think her presidency would be one of the best things that could happen to America. For one, it would be monumental to have a woman president. And what’s more, most of her staff consists of women. She wouldn’t be a puppet of the male political establishment like, say, Bush has been a puppet of the Neo-Con establishment. So important do I think it would be to have someone who wasn’t a white male as the world’s most powerful leader that I would vote Republican if it would ensure such a win. If Obama is on the ticket I’d actually be willing to volunteer for their campaign. International Note: India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Israel, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Senegal, Guyana, Panama, Argentina, and Haiti (not to mention half of Europe) have all had female presidents or prime ministers.
The second reason we must elect Hillary Clinton is health care. If the only thing the Democrats accomplish over the next decade is instituting universal healthcare it would be a major victory for the American public. When was the last time our government actually did anything that made a significant positive impact in the lives of most Americans? We know Hillary wants universal healthcare and is willing to fight for it. With her in the White House and a Democratic congress it could actually happen. It’s time for the Dems to live up to the idea that they are the populist party. International Note: The US is the only developed nation without national healthcare.
