Okay, so the MacBook Pro is just about everything I could have wished for. But the big question is: where’s Adobe? I worry sometimes that Apple takes it’s core user base—designers—for granted. Most designers could care less about Microsoft Office on the Mac. What we want to know is how fast is Creative Suite going to run under Rosetta (not very fast by the looks of it), when is the universal binary version coming out, and how much is Adobe going to shaft us for it?
I’m amazed that they released pro-level products without answering those questions. I though for sure (as did all the rumor sites) that they were going to Intel-ify the Mac Mini and the iBook first (even though those products need the speed bump the least), because Adobe wouldn’t be ready. So it’s a bittersweet victory. I can buy the laptop I’ve been coveting, but the apps that need the extra speed aren’t going to be any faster.
